Part 1:The Soybean
Its beginning to the Soy Sauce factory
|
Soybean seeds are planted in rows where each seed is placed two to three inches apart from each other and each row is planted two to two and a half feet apart. Fifty to seventy-seven degrees Fahrenheit is the ideal temperature for growing soybeans. They will sprout in four to seven days, but to fully grow, they need three to five months. Even though soybeans do take around that much time to grow, they are harvested when the pods (edamame) are getting green. Once it is yellow, the flavor decreases. To get the soybean plant out of the ground, farmers grip it by the root, then pull.
